Honduras Hurricane Relief Update

Missionary Rodney Walls reported on December 29th that in 5 minutes, they gave out 77 bags of food to a nearby community ravaged by the flooding from hurricanes Eta and Iota. The communities have weeks of cleaning the mud, so they can return to their homes (and as one man said today, every time it rains, they have more mud to deal with). Even in such circumstances, the people are gracious and orderly as food is handed out.

To date, GBIM together with local churches has handed out food that will last about a week to 920+ families and have prepared and served food to over 800 people. Walls says, “In all honesty, that is just a drop in a bucket to the needs that exist, but we (GB’s) do what we can to help. Most of the people living in our churches have returned to their homes such as they are.”

The need to continue to provide food continues, and we are grateful that so many have given so that we can continue to buy. We are, however, beginning to pray about the next phases of help and what that will look like.

Please pray for your missionaries and the national churches as they continue to work through these difficult circumstances. The response to this need has been tremendous – thank you!
