Pastor Prakash states that six new Dorcas Sewing Centers have started as of February 1, 2021 in the tribal areas of the association. Each center has approximately 15 ladies enrolled for the six-month program where they learn tailoring skills and also spend time in a daily devotion and prayer.
Many of those enrolled are Hindu and Muslim, and they faithfully attend in spite of the heavy Christian influence and some give their hearts to Christ. At graduation, each successful student is awarded a new treadle sewing machine that they can use to support their families. The machines cost about $50 USD (depending on exchange rate). The student pays half the cost and a mission stipend pays the other half. All costs associated with the classes are supported by your donations.
