GBIM received a wonderful August report from the Pamu family in India. Included in the report was news of two new Docras Sewing Centers (DSC) in their ministry area and four new believers baptized in the Bay of Bengal near Kakinada.
The Dorcas Sewing Centers minister and evangelize poor and underprivileged women in India. Each center trains an average of 20 women who are taught each day through devotions, prayer time and three hours of training in tailoring. As part of the ministry, sewing machines are provided for the neediest students.
Five centers completed their training in August 2015 including two new centers in Komanapali and Ravikampadu. Brother Prakash reports, “In Jaggayya Cheruvu village, 13 girls completed training and 5 women accepted Jesus as their Lord and Saviour. Four girls from this centre are requesting us to provide sewing machines on subsidy. Please pray for the trained girls from this centre to live for Christ.”
We also rejoice with the Pamu family that the Pithapuram Church was blessed to baptize four believers on August 30, 2015 in the Bay of Bengal. As Brother Prakash put it, “Praise the Lord for His wonderful dealings with the lost souls.”
Grace Home for Widows, another ministry of the Pamu family, was able to assist 38 poor and destitute women during the month of August. The words of scripture remind us that the very essence of “religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.” (James 1:27, ESV). We think God for the faithful work of the Pamu family as they continue to lift high the gospel of Jesus Christ in Andhra Pradesh province which is only 1.3% Christian (88.5% Hindu and 9.6% Muslim).
A major thrust of GBIM over the next several years will be to impact the 10/40 window with the opportunities God has given us in India, in the Philippines through outreach through the Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) program and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), in Hong Kong and a possible new field in Niger, West Africa in 2018. GBIM Director Mark Powell states, “As the coming of our Savior approaches, we cannot allow such opportunities that God has given us to slip through our hands. We must be about our Father’s business!”
The Pamu family listed the following projects as their upcoming funding needs for you and your churches consideration.
The Pamu family also extended their thanks to General Baptists with these kind words, “We thank and praise our Lord for His providence for ministry and our daily needs through our General Baptist brothers and sisters. We are so grateful for our beloved Lord Jesus Christ and to all our GB brothers and sisters in the USA. Thank you.”
